Then and now, CC2009

America has often been the focus of the world since the radical concept of a virtuous society possessing the means of which to govern each his own affairs was conceived in Carpenters Hall Philadelphia Pennsylvania, July 4th 1776 at a Continental Congress. In support of the concept, a convention was later held in 1787 to which the principle might be applied more generally. It was the author of our early Declaration who also quoted later to a French observer “Happy for us that when we find our Con… Continue

The Important Work Continues, Despite a Few Fireworks

OK, we knew today was going to be our most busy day. I knew this from the moment we passed the rules requiring extensive delays in dealing with the issues. Continental Congress or Sleep Deprivation Experiment?

Sleep deprivation is catching up with all of us, I think. In fact, I'm having a little trouble focusing on the screen as I write this. Committees have been working late into the night and I've noticed that each day the number of delegates to attend the early morning presentation is diminishing. In fact, I missed the presentation this morning in an effort to catch up on sleep.

The topic of the morning presentation was the Sovereignty and the North American Union, but I can't really say any more… Continue

The Immigration Divide: Rule of Law or Anarchy

I understand the argument put forth by those delegates that cite the illegal immigration problem as a byproduct of the unconstitutional war on drugs and welfare state, but any immigration rights argument beyond that is outside the purpose of this Continental Congress.

We sent our delegates to discuss Federal violations of the Constitution and rule of law. The fact is that Congress does have the delegated power to “establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization”. Any immigration rule that Congress… Continue
